Contributor Bios

Ashley Hartshorn, Associate AIA, is an Intern Architect at Barbara Felix Architecture + Design in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her past AIA roles include the 2014 AIA Santa Fe Associate Director, and her current AIA roles include the 2017 AIA New Mexico Associate Director and the 2017 AIA Santa Fe Treasurer. She is also the Chair of Canstruction Santa Fe, and a former AIA Western Mountain Region Pettigrew Scholar. Ashley received her Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Master of Architecture at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts and has resided in New Mexico for over six years.

Jennifer Penner, AIA, NCARB, is an Architect at Studio Southwest Architects in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born and raised in New Mexico, she received her license to practice architecture in the fall of 2016. Jennifer currently serves as AIA New Mexico’s Architect Licensing Advisor. She has previously held board positions with AIA New Mexico as the Associate Director and with AIA Western Mountain Region as Regional Associate Director. While with the WMR she was able to engage other Associates on the national stage as a concurrent member of the National Associates Committee. Jennifer received her Master of Architecture at the University of New Mexico in 2013. Her passion lies in helping emerging professionals reach their full potential. Jennifer works with individuals of all ages from young students in grade school up through seasoned professionals in their 60’s. She believes it is never too early or too late to aim for and reach the stars!
